D.O.T. STIFFENS RULES ON CONVICTIONS

Effective September 30, 2002, the penalties for disqualification on a commercial motor vehicle driver's license tightened up; the disqualification from driving will occur for any conviction for alcohol or drug-related DUI.  Leaving the scene of an accident and refusal to take an alcohol or drug test will also result in forfeiture of one's license.  Using a vehicle to commit a felony, and negligence resulting in a motor vehicle fatality will also result in disqualification.

Convictions in both a personal vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle will result in disqualification.  The first offense, the driver will be disqualified for one year.  The second offense will result in a lifetime disqualification.  Serious traffic violations will now include those that occur in a personal vehicle.  You will now be held accountable for driving violations in your own vehicle, as well as  your commercial vehicle you are operating.  SB.
